Crunk Hits lives! At least that's our hope following the news that digital music company the Orchard was the winning bidder in a recent bankruptcy auction to purchase TVT Records, one-time home to Lil Jon, Ying Yang Twins, the Polyphonic Spree, and, of course, the Crunk Hits compilation series.

According to the terms of the Orchard's bid, its acquisition of TVT would give the company control over the label's catalog, physical distribution, and artist contracts-- though the latter aspect is still under dispute in many cases. The Orchard's purchase would exclude rights to TVT's music-publishing subsidiary.

However, the operative word right now is "would," as the acquisition is not yet complete. It is expected to close by July 3 pending a few conditions, including court approval.
