Folks gathered Friday night at Portland's Wonder Ballroom for an evening of homegrown side ventures and collaborations, as Viva Voce/Swords Project offshoot Blue Giant and Menomena man Danny Seim's long-running Lackthereof project shared a bill that also included well-regarded locals the Shaky Hands.

The night's biggest story, however, was a rare appearance by Sleater-Kinney's Corin Tucker, one of only a handful since the iconic trio called it quits back in 2006. Tucker guested on vocals for Blue Giant, who were themselves making their live debut. She also spent most of her time on stage draped in shadow, much to the chagrin of Pitchfork's photographer.

Blue Giant have one more gig on the docket at the moment-- a June 26 show at Seattle's High Dive-- and while Tucker is not expected to perform, Blue Giant do hope to enlist her services in the recording studio.

Lackthereof, meanwhile, will rock Portland's Holocene on July 17.
