Franz LP Set for January, Song Due in Madden '09
So a January release it is for the new Franz Ferdinand album, the one the spry Scots were busy mixing in our last report on the matter. No word yet on the Epic set's details, but the first single will debut a new non-album (it might be on the album) Franz track will appear on the soundtrack to the 2009 edition of the Madden NFL video game series, which is due in mid-August. Tantalizing morsels of the new album tunes, meanwhile, can still be previewed via the music section of the band's website. You kick out those jock jams, fellas, and we'll just keep on looping "Trigger 8" in the meantime.
In the midst of their current string of teeny tiny little club dates, Franz have just announced an awfully big one on some awfully short notice. Tomorrow, they'll hit the Park Stage at the Glastonbury Festival right after John Cale and right before Dizzee Rascal, which, as Franz drummer Paul Thomson writes in a MySpace blog post, "is pretty much where I think we stand musically." They'll hit Yeovil, England's Orange Box tonight.
