Lee "Scratch" Perry Reveals Full Album Details, Tour
Reggae icon/mad genius Lee "Scratch" Perry's 54th (!!!!) studio album is called Repentance, and if you've had an eye on these pages-- or Pitchfork.tv-- over the last nine months or so, you already know it's gonna be very different from its 53 predecessors.
Co-produced by human dynamo Andrew WK, Repentance finds a little room in its grooves for guest spots from Lightning Bolt's Brian Chippendale, Blondie's Chris Stein, Moby, Gumball's Don Fleming, Current 93's David Tibet, Matisyahu bassist Josh Werner, and artist/adult entertainer Sasha Grey. It's due August 19 on CD and limited edition 2xLP from Narnack Records, with the vinyl bolstered by an extended take on "Pum-Pum".
Repentance marks the first release as part of Narnack's new distribution deal with Lionsgate.
Perry will set out on a summer tour starting next week. And, soon enough, you can expect a video for "Pum-Pum" from director Jay Will.
