Radiohead Ballet Hits the Road This Fall

Scotland's national dance company Scottish Ballet has lined up the program for its fall tour, which kicks off a little later this month in Glasgow. Each evening will find the ballet presenting a three-part affair, including pieces inspired by "film techniques" and "the sophisticated frivolity of the 1930s." Of course, this being Pitchfork, and the Scottish Ballet being, well, a Scottish ballet, we mention it mostly due to the evening's third component: Ride the Beast, the Stephen Petronio-choreographed piece set to the music of Radiohead.

Ride the Beast, as you may recall, premiered last year at the Edinburgh International Festival. It features Radiohead jams "Fitter Happier", "Hunting Bears", "Idioteque", "The National Anthem", and an acoustic take on "Creep", to say nothing of all the dancing and leotards and such. The Scottish Ballet will be out for just shy of a month, and we've got all the tour dates down below there. Also: LOL at this juxtaposition.

Perhaps Thom and the lads can catch a performance or two; their next move is to Japan, but not until October. You, however, may pirouette and plié as you please to NPR's recent webcast of Radiohead's August 28 show, which is streaming now.
