Cat Power Covers Creedence, Pogues, Redding on EP

Cat Power began her year plugging quarters into the Jukebox, and she'll close it out down at the Dark End of the Street. I suppose those are the sorts of places you wind up when you've "Lived in Bars" as long as Chan has. [OK, enough jokes! -- Ed.]

Dark End of the Street is a brand new covers EP due digitally and on a limited edition double 10" in a gatefold sleeve December 9 from Matador. It collects a half-dozen tunes Chan Marshall and her band did during the Jukebox sessions, including four previously unreleased tracks. She tackles the Pogues, James Carr, Sandy Denny, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Otis Redding, and Aretha Franklin.

Cat Power will take off on a brief southwestern U.S. tour this month, with support from Appaloosa. She'll also make an appearance at the Bridge School Benefit in Mountain View, California over the weekend of October 25-26.
