TV on the Radio's Tunde Adebimpe Goes Solo on 7"
Because acting, covering Neil Young a cappella, starting supergroups with Mike Patton and Doseone, and-- oh yeah-- fronting TV on the Radio clearly aren't enough for the guy, Tunde Adebimpe has fired up a little solo project.
Fake Male Voice, as he's calling it, will greet the world by way of a nifty-looking 7" picture disc. It's due December 23 from HEARTFAST, a new label with a Japanese website and a Brooklyn mailing address.
The 7" features "Cou Cou Sous Les Nuages" and the A-side and "OMG!!!FMV!!!" on the B (Tunde sure gets playful when he goes solo, huh?). In addition to the cool picture disc design you see above (B-side) and below (A-side), the set also comes with a DVD that includes music videos Tunde made for both songs, plus one for a third song, "Lone Sum Humm".
"OMG!!!FMV!!!" is described in the charmingly translated press release as a "thrilled song which his sexier soulful voice is mixed with orchestral, 80's visual, even dance music," while "Lone Sum Humm" is noted for its "beautiful chorus and interested visual story explored by toy bat." Well then.
Tunde will slip into a slightly more serious mode as he joins TV on the Radio in Kansas City tonight, and keeps on rolling with the guys into the new year.
