Deerhoof Announce Live Dates

My three-year-old niece loves Deerhoof. Seriously. She bobbles around the room, caveman-slappin' the floor whenever I put on the band's more approachable fare. It's kind of unsettling in a talented-but-artless street minstrel sort of way: A toddler who can sing words to Barney songs, gurgling along all innocently to Deerhoof, convincing me every once in a while that it's her voice I'm hearing instead of the blenderized Björk-like caterwaul of leadsinger Satomi. Really, though, I think there could be a market for her. Like the Shaggs meets Joanna Newsom meets Ruins meets Jordy. Of course, as much as my pretty lil' niece digs the 'Hoof, and as much as I'd love to show her off, I can't envision taking her to a concert, even though the band has lined up a two month string of U.S. and Canadian dates.

Having decided to take a break from piecing together their fall follow-up to last year's Milkman, and with a Japanese short-player to hock, Deerhoof will be playing a chunk of North American tour dates through the months of April and May. A list of places my niece will not be:
