Stephen Malkmus to Play 826 Benefit

Stephen Malkmus will play a set at the final stop of the previously reported "Revenge of the Book Eaters" tour of authors, musicians, and comics performing to raise money for Dave Eggers' nonprofit 826 tutoring centers. The even will take place this Sunday, October 29 in Ypsilanti, Michigan at Eastern Michigan University's Pease Auditorium, and all of the proceeds will go to 826michigan.

In addition to Malkatraz, the other performers at the benefit will include Eggers, Cowboy Junkies, FOUND magazine creator Davy Rothbart, actor Dan John Miller, the Ann Arbor Youth Poetry Slam Team, 826michigan students, and "very special guests," according to a press release. At the Chicago event, this meant Fred Armisen coming out as Ben Gibbard and badmouthing Death Cab for Cutie fans. Here's hoping Jimmy Fallon comes out as Malkmus and cracks up before he has a chance to say a word.
