CRE commissioners and management team


The CRE is run by up to 15 commissioners (including the chair), who are appointed by the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government.

The commissioners guide the work of around 200 staff based at offices in London, Birmingham, Manchester, Edinburgh and Cardiff.

There are five directorates within the CRE charged with carrying out the organisation's programme of work:

  • Policy and public sector
  • Private sector
  • Corporate management team
  • Communications
  • Legal

There are also directorates responsible for organisational development (including human resources and IT), and finance functions.
