Today saw the appointment by Ruth Kelly, Secretary of State for the Department for Communities and Local Government, of Trevor Phillips as chair of the new Commission for Equality and Human Rights. Mr Phillips will continue to chair the CRE until the Secretary of State has made arrangements for his replacement.
