Meg White Auctions Drums for Charity

Detroit scene fixture Jim Shaw has cancer, and it looks bad, so a whole lot of Motor City rock people have banded together to raise money for him. Thus, the Jim Shaw Fundraiser auction, taking place at Detroit's quite excellent Cpop Gallery on February 7, starting at 6 p.m. Original artwork, classic Sonics posters, and original photos of the Stooges and the Misfits are up for bidding, but the marquee item is one of the drum sets Meg White played in the White Stripes' "The Hardest Button to Button" video.

The big-hearted gestures don't end there: In addition, there will also be a Shaw benefit show at Detroit's Magic Stick later that night, featuring Greg Cartwright, Tyvek, the Go, Danny Krona, Dial Tones, and more.
