A La Mirada hotel tax was on the March 3, 2009 ballot in Los Angeles County for all voters in the City of La Mirada.

Measure A was approved.[1]

Background

La Mirada currently charges a hotel tax of 7%. If Measure A passes, that tax will be increased as follows:

  • To nine percent (9%) effective January 1, 2010.
  • To ten percent (10%) effective January 1, 2013.

The tax is payable to the hotel/ motel operator at the time the rent is paid by the hotel/ motel guest.

Ballot question

The question on the ballot is: "Shall the Transient Occupancy Tax levied upon hotel/motel stays and certain other temporary lodging in the City of La Mirada be adjusted from 7 percent to 9 percent effective January 1, 2010, and to 10 percent effective January 1, 2013?"
