Well I'm back in LA after 3 weeks in South Africa. Here is a short synopsis of the trip...
(but before you check out my pictures here, i have a 2 girl up in MR with Amina- it doesnt show up on my page until its on the main page apparently: Here it is! )
I had 3 flights to take to get there, LA to Atlanta, Atlanta to Dakar, Dakar to Cape Town. I was dreading connecting in Dakar because i only had an hour to get my bags, go through customs, and get to my gate. My sources said that Dakar is the worst airport in the world (actually voted that on salon.com) and there is only one flight to Cape Town every day.... anyway, long story short, my very first flight was an hour and a half late. So i got re-routed anyway and got to avoid that airport all together. I ended up staying 24 hours in atlanta and connecting through Amsterdam. word. it was off to a good start.
I got there and the first day I climbed Table mountain....
best way to kill jet lag ever.
These are my homies I was with the whole time:
Shaun, CorE, and Heather.
We did a TON of stuff every day. We didnt stop.
I saw tons of animals:
Penguins
The Cape of Good Hope:
Baboons outside our car!
I went shark diving! that was SUPER fun.
Table Mountain:
we dined hard. and stayed vegan. thats RIGHT!
we went on safari:
Rhinos:
Elephants:
Zebras:
Ostriches:
I cuddled cheetas:
We also had 2 different apartments while we were there. good times. this is the view from the seconds one....
I went to the Cape Town Tattoo convention- the first annual. It was nuts. There really arent a ton of heavily tattooed people over there, especially girls, so people freaked out over my tattoos the whole time. It was a great convention and a ton of fun:
I went to Robben Island of course and learned a ton about the shitty times of Apartheid and Mandela more in depth. Its always good to learn about the past so we dont repeat it....
Mandela's cell
If...
