Pitchfork: Eels to Unveil 33-track 2xCD in April

As much as I love 'em, Eels don't make a damn bit of sense. There's frontman and oft-sole Eel, E, who nightlights as the painfully detached bootyshakin' MC Honky. Seriously, we're talking the antithesis to his full-time gig's quirkpop here. And there's always the Shrek thing: their songs appearing 'longside large green Ogres voiced by Mike Myers just seems somewhat off, y'know? So it's no surprise that there's more peculiar news coming out of the Eels camp these days. Indeed, for the upcoming release of the followup to 2003's drab Shootenanny!, E will be packing up his Interscope/Universal belongings and moving cross town to emo-neuvo daycare and schlock-hocker, Vagrant Records (incidentally, a subsidiary of Interscope/Universal). With cameos from Tom Waits, John Sebastian of the Lovin' Spoonful, and R.E.M.'s Peter Buck, the 33-track double album-- titled Blinking Lights and Other Revelations-- is set for an April 26 release. Keep in mind E promised his next release would be a "masterpiece" way back in the summer of '03. Tracklists:
