Pitchfork: Pipettes Sign With Memphis Industries

Three cute girls in polka-dotted dresses and a band? Yeah, you've got it-- we're talking about the Pipettes.

These little women are moving up to the big leagues, having recently signed a two album deal with Memphis Industries, home of one of our current favorites: the Go! Team. Not wasting a minute, the group is headed straight to the studio, hopefully alongside Keith Top of Art Brut production fame and Andy Dragazis of Blue States (another MI team member!). Not bad, eh? The Pipettes are aiming to get two singles (one in November, one in early 2006) out before the release of their new album next spring.

Matt Jacob, head honcho over at Memphis, is pretty psyched about the addition to the label, writing, "We're really excited about getting our hands on the Pipettes-- not cause they're cute, which they are of course, but because we reckon they're going to make a knockout album of perfect unsullied pop."
