Pitchfork: Mono to Invade U.S. in Fall

Now entering their scary, post-Pelican phase, Japanese atmosphere-rockers Mono will leave behind their long-haired American tour partners/collaborators/soulmates to visit the U.S. for a headlining trek of their own. Culminating with the release of the Mono/Pelican split LP, due out on October 11 on Temporary Residence, the outing will cover twenty-six cities in just under a month's time. Fellow Temporary Residers Bellini will accompany Mono for the entire journey.

Besides the split LP with Pelican, Mono are also making progress towards the follow-up to last year's Walking Cloud and Deep Red Sky, Flag Fluttered and the Sun Shined. In a recent post on their website, an anonymous band member (or possibly all four at once typing at once-- it's a post-rock thing) stated that, "Our new original album (4th album) is scheduled to be out in the spring 2006." They've also recorded a song for a Temporary Residence compilation, two songs for Cameron Crowe's Vinyl Films label, and begun collaborating with the Katsuhiko Maeda-fronted World's End Girlfriend. If all that weren't enough, Mono will cap off their tour-heavy 2005 with a European trek beginning in November. Hey! How 'bout some dates:
