Photos: Yellow Swans' Final U.S. Show [Chicago, IL; 06/09/08] Fans turned out at Chicago's AV-aerie last night to bid a fond farewell to Yellow Swans, as the Portland ambient/noise duo played its final U.S. show and penultimate gig ever. The Swans were in high spirits, thanking the crowd profusely even as a bittersweet pall hung over the proceedings. When tears are shed at noise shows, it's seldom for sentimental reasons, but last night would prove an exception.

Joining the Swans for one last excursion into the realm of high-decibel bliss-outs were a number of hand-picked openers, including Chicago post-rock mainstays Zelienople, St. Louis sound manipulator Raglani, and Windy City resident U.S. Girls, whose eerie sonics resounded down the industrial blocks surrounding the third-floor AV-aerie space like an unholy beacon.

As previously reported, Yellow Swans' Pete Swanson and Gabriel Mindel Saloman will part ways for good following one more gig at Barcelona's Sónar Festival on June 19. They will be missed.
