This past weekend, I got to try my hand at some DVD reviews. The first was THE BOSTON STRANGLER: THE UNTOLD STORY. Eh…it could have been better, but I found it more to be a crime drama than an actual horror film. The second film was VOICE, which was slightly better, but still not a film I would want to see again. Mike also said once we get the LOST BOYS: THE TRIBE DVD in, he’ll let me review that. I haven’t heard good things about the film, but I’m a big fan of THE LOST BOYS, and although I know the second won’t compare, I am curious.

So talk about insane! I did a news feature about a new book coming out in October called THE NEW ANNOTATED DRACULA. It’s edited by Leslie S. Klinger, who also did THE NEW ANNOTATED SHERLOCK HOLMES. Pretty much, the book explores Bram Stoker’s DRACULA, and Klinger includes notes on how the text could be true…that Dracula was a real person! Anyway, we were sent an advance copy of the book, and Tony passed it along to me to do the news feature on it. He asked if I was a fan of the original DRACULA, and I said, “Yeah, it was one of the first horror books I read.” With a smile he said, “Well, if you want to make this your summer project, we’ll run your review for it in the fall.”

So a few weeks ago, Coralina Cataldi-Tassoni (from MOTHERS OF TEARS) came in to say hi to Mike and he introduced me to her. I said, “Wow, I remember seeing her in Dario Argento’s THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA.” I couldn’t believe it was her! She was extremely sweet and wished me luck.
