Florida Amendment 6, also known as the Repeal of High Speed Rail Amendment, was on the November 2, 2004 election ballot in Florida. It passed, with 63.7% of voters in favor.

  • Yes: 4,519,423
  • No: 2,573,280

It was on the ballot as an initiated constitutional amendment.

Six citizen-initiated amendments were on the 2004 ballot; they were respectively the 22nd, 23rd, 24th, 25th, 26th and 27th citizen-initiated measures to appear on a Florida statewide ballot.

This amendment repeals an amendment in the Florida Constitution that requires the Legislature, the Cabinet and the Governor to proceed with the development and operation of a high speed ground transportation system by the state and/or by a private entity.

Campaign spending

$2,173,780 was spent on the campaign--all of it from the "yes" side through a group called the Derail the Bullet Train PAC.
