The Florida Sunshine Amendment was on the 1976 ballot in Florida as an initiated constitutional amendment. It required full public disclosure by state and county election officials and candidates. It passed.
The Sunshine Amendment was the first successful constitutional initiative in Florida history.
The Sunshine Amendment requires that there be an independent commission (the Commission on Ethics) to investigate complaints concerning breaches of public trust by public officers and employees other than judges.
