Akron/Family Ready Album, Tour
New York freak-folk journeymen Akron/Family have lost one member (Ryan Vanderhoof, who left the band to live in a Buddhist Dharma center in 2007) and split with the label that introduced them to the world (Young God), but that's not enough to slow them down. On May 5, Dead Oceans will release Set 'Em Wild, Set 'Em Free, the band's first album as a trio. Which begs the question: How do you set something wild? I'm pretty sure I've never heard that expression before.
Another question: How come Akron/Family haven't collaborated with the Dayton Family yet? Would that just make too much sense?
Anyway, Akron/Fam will celebrate the album's release by touring North America and playing shows with so many bands that I might run out of those footnote characters. Their shows are known for lasting well into the wee hours, so wear comfortable shoes.
