ABOUT RSS
Really Simple Syndication (RSS) is an XML-based format for content distribution. SuicideGirls offers several RSS feeds for use in news readers and blogs. These feeds include headlines, summaries and links back to SuicideGirls. We currently use RSS 2.0.
DESKTOP CLIENTS
BLOGGING CLIENTS
You can use a desktop app to update and edit your journal entries on SG with any application that uses the MetaWebLog API. Enter the URL to your SG profile page, and login with your SG username and password.
CALENDAR CLIENTS
SG provides several ways to sync SG events to your desktop calendar application. In some cases you must be a member or have a location set in your profile to sync calendars. To sync group calendars you must visit the group's event tab. We support iCalendar for calendar syncing.
FOR DEVELOPERS
DISCLAIMER
Our developer tools are provided as a service to programmers who want to do more with their SG account. Our documentation is intentionally brief. We have no time or ability to walk you through the basics of developing web applications, so please know what you're doing before going any further. For this reason, we're using open standards that have been heavily documented and discussed all over the internet. Use Google. We assume no liability for the use of our developer tools, or for the use of any third party applications built on top of them. Our developer tools are provided with no warranty and are subject to change at any time.
THE SG API
The SG API is currently extremely limited - we are in the process of adding features and will post them here as they are available.
The API is XML based, and requires a valid session cookie. Until we provide a login method, you can login to the site with your browser, and send the same session used by your browser. Look in your browser's cookies, and find the cookie for suicidegirls.com called PHPSESSID. The value is a string of 32 characters. On your XML request, send this cookie as the Cookie header.
SG EXTENSIONS TO METAWEBLOG API
We support the MetaWeblog API for managing your journal entries and adding new images to your pics. We've added some SG specific extensions that you can use in your own applications. The extensions are extra elements in the content structure, or "the struct" as it's called in the MetaWeblog API document.
Use your SG username and password as the username and password.
Use RSD to discover your blogID and the apiLink. In the source of a profile page, look for the link rel="EditURI" tag, and follow the href.
metaWeblog.editPost
Setting sg_private to 1 will make the journal entry private, so only SG members can read it.
metaWeblog.getRecentPosts
For each entry, sg_private is set to 1 for private entries. sg_comment_count returns the number of comments for that entry.
sg_folder is the folder name in your pics. sg_caption is the caption to give that image. Both elements are optional. If you do not specify a folder, the image will be added to your most recently updated folder. Alternately, you can set the name element (normally used as a filename) to Folder Name/caption.jpg
Returns nothing. There are no categories.
