Help us eschew obfuscation on food labels!

In simple English, “eschew obfuscation” means to
                               “eliminate unnecessary complexity.”
But these words are also a good example of how words can confuse. Or clarify.

At the Sugar Association, we think it’s time to clarify the label to help you understand ingredients listed on the foods you buy for your family. Especially as they relate to defining the sugars that so many products use for taste, crunch and consistency. It’s time for simple, clear labeling that will actually help you make an informed decision.

Don’t think it’s a problem? Sugar is sugar, right? Well, unless you’re a chemist, or possess a working knowledge of food science, figuring out which ingredient is pure sugar and which ingredients are alternative sweeteners is tougher than you think. Today’s labels just don’t give you the information that you need to make a good decision.
