Why has Janine hooked up with Billy?
Janine
has a genuine soft spot for
Billy.
She feels a real partnership with him and in a way it's a small piece of security for her.
She always looks out for Billy and she needed someone to live with.
The only thing that annoys her is that he brings
Jay
.
I think under it all she likes Billy and she's at ease with him.
For a few moments we see another side to Janine’s character.
However, Billy tells
Ronnie
about Janine’s scam and tells Ronnie not to trust her!
Does Janine know that Billy double-crosses her?
At the beginning she doesn't know.
Billy's the only person she told, but he gets these big anxiety pangs.
At the end of the day he's a Mitchell and Ronnie's always been supportive to him, especially since his break up with
Honey.
Billy believes that Janine's being out of order and taking things a step too far.
Does she care about Billy double-crossing her?
I think initially she does care and feels hurt, but at the end of the day she likes having Billy around.
Why is Janine determined to get a stake in R&R?
Janine is really business-minded and if she sees a good financial opportunity she goes for it.
I think she has taken an initial dislike to Ronnie and she also wants to get back at her for making her do all the worst jobs at the club, like cleaning the toilets!
Why is she playing Jack and Ronnie off each other?
She didn’t know either of them very well so she moulds them both into a false sense of security.
No one is too tough for Janine to tackle.
Janine is aware of the tension, as she's been told that
Jack
and Ronnie have history. She sees it as an opportunity to stir things up and plays it to her advantage.
Why does Ronnie let Janine work at R&R?
Maybe having Janine around makes Ronnie feel better about herself subconsciously.
Does Janine fancy Jack or is he just a business interest?
She probably saw him in the Square, looked him up and down and thought he was really good looking!
For Janine, I think business opportunities are more important than personal relationships.
How does she feel when Jack and Ronnie double-cross her?
Janine takes it reasonably well. She has double-crossed people and been underhand, so she can’t blame them for doing the same!
She takes it on the chin. However, she does not take anything lying down.
How scared is she when Jack catches her going through his office and tries to abduct her?
I think she feels humiliated and trying to scare her is a step too far.
It really motivates her to get revenge on Jack. What Jack does really hits her hard and the fact that he tries to emotionally blackmail her really pushes her over the edge.
I think that annoys her more than the actual betrayal of double-crossing her!
Janine likes playing games, but she really got caught out with this one - she knows what Jack is ultimately capable of.
How does she get away?
Janine holds her own in tough situations. I really admire that in her - it's also really challenging to play.
Jack and Janine have a scuffle and she manages to free herself, as one of the girls from the massage parlour disturbs them. Jack panics and Janine manages to flee!
What I admire is that Janine puts on this amazing, resilient strength of will.
She then goes back and spikes Jack’s drink, handcuffs him to a radiator and pretends to douse him in petrol.
It transpires that it is actually water. She does it just to scare him.
In a wired way they have a mutual respect, as they know how to push each other!
What is she trying to prove?
She has been in these situations hundreds of times before. Nothing fazes her. She wants to establish herself as one to watch on the Square.
Does she really believe he will ever be afraid of her?
I think she does in her own way. Janine is so clever and always puts herself in the power position - it's all about getting the upper hand.
She steals Jack’s laptop - what's the file she finds that worries him?
She hears a conversation of Jack saying that he has bumped off people in the past.
Eventually Janine does a deal with Jack for the return of his computer file. She does a fantastic deal, as there is another empire on the Square that she's keen to get her hands on!
So, R&R's not her goal any more?
She knows Jack has a stake in the car lot and that’s what she wants - her father’s old business. She is constantly reminded of her father and his death and it is impossible for her to get over - it has had a massive impact on her.
Does she intend to use what's on the file?
I am not sure really, I think she knows it is a way to blackmail Jack for whatever she desires!
Isn’t that going a bit far even for Janine?
Nothing is impossible when it comes to Janine - it’s all part of the drama.
