IHSA gives Neuqua Valley's Derrick clearance to compete
Neuqua Valley's Chris Derrick received clearance from the IHSA to compete in the boys junior invitational mile at the 2008 Reebok Boston Indoor Games on Saturday.
"I won't run that well, but it should be a good experience," said the state's Class 3A cross-country champion, who hasn't done much speed work this year.
The Boston Indoor Games are being held two days before the start of the state track season—a conflict with IHSA rules. But Derrick, Gatorade's national cross-country runner of the year, was given the waiver because USA Track & Field is conducting the meet.
