Men's Basketball Hosts Loyola on Saturday at 5 p.m.

The men's basketball team host Loyola (Md.) on Saturday afternoon at 5 p.m. in the Daskalakis Athletic Center. The two teams met last season in the championship game of the Liberty Bracket in the Philly Hoop Group Classic, with Drexel earning a two-point victory.

Leon Spencer’s turn-around jumper bounced off the rim as time expired as the Dragons lost a heartbreaker at George Mason on Wednesday, 49-48. Mason scored the winning basket on a put-back with just 7.5 seconds to play. Evan Neisler led the Dragons with 14 points and 11 rebounds. It was his third double-double of the season. Scott Rodgers added 12 points. Drexel held Mason to just 34 percent shooting in the contest. There were 13 lead changes in the game and no team led in the second half by more than three points.

The Loyola Greyhounds come into today’s game with a five-game losing streak. The streak came after Loyola won its previous six games. The Greyhounds dropped a tough two-point decision at home against Canisius on Monday night. Loyola had an 11-point lead, but Canisius finished the game with a 19-6 run to prevail. Jamal Barney, the Greyhounds leading scorer and rebounder, finished with 30 points and 11 boards. He has had two games this season with at least 40 points. This is the first trip to the DAC since 1985 for the Greyhounds.
