The name game
Celebrating its 140th anniversary, the Peabody Memphis is looking for guests who share its distinguished Peabody name and will reward them with a $140 room rate. The "What's in a Name" offer applies to anyone with the first, middle or last name Peabody. The original Peabody was named for philanthropist George Peabody, a friend of the builder's. Peabody died shortly before the hotel's grand opening in 1869.
Travelers not lucky enough to be named Peabody can instead take advantage of "The South's Grand Escape" at the Peabody, with one night's accommodations, dinner for two and parking for $370. Both offers expire Dec. 29 and exclude tax, service charge and tips. (800-PEABODY; peabodymemphis.com, click on Specials & Packages)
