Ignacio Mariscal (Oaxaca, México July 5, 1829 - Mexico City April 17, 1910) was an important Mexican writer and diplomat. He was Secretary of Foreign Affaits in 1871 - 1872. He was reelected for this work four times: 1880-1883, 1885-1890, 1890-1902, 1902-1910. In 1909, he was the President of mexican Academy of the Languaje. He also wrote many books:
- Historia de las dificultades entre México y Guatemala. Proyectada Intervención de Estados Unidos. Algunos documentos oficiales (1882);
- Don Nicolás Bravo o la clemencia mexicana (1900);
- Episodios en la vida de Juárez (1906);
- Ignacio Mariscal. Poesías (Publicación Póstuma) (1911).
Died in Mexico City in April 17 of 1910
