The All-Ireland_Hurling_Final was won by Cork who beat Wexford by 1-17 to 3-8. ==All-Ireland Final== Sunday September_4th was the date of the 1977 All-Ireland_Hurling_Final between the reigning champions Cork and the challengers Wexford. The two teams were meeting for the second consecutive year in the final and Cork were favourites once again. The Wexford team had only one change from the previous year with David_Bernie starting instead of Billy_Rowsome. The Cork team had four personnel changes with John Horgan, Dermot_McCurtain, Tom_Cashman and Tim_Crowley replacing Pat_McDonnell, Pat_Barry, Pat_Moylan and Brendan Cummins. Before the game had even started Cork's Seánie_O'Leary injured himself. During a pre-match warm-up in fron of Hill 16 O'Leary got hit in the face with a sliothar, suffering a broken nose. He missed the parade before the game due to his injury but played for the full 70 minutes, being described throughout the game by RTÉ commentator Michael_O'Hehir as "the man who nearly didn't play." The day was wet and windy but Cork dominated throughout. Jimmy_Barry-Murphy scored Cork's last point with 13 minutes left in the match. It gave Cork an eight point advantage and they looked home and dry. However, straight after that Wexford's Ned_Buggy scored a goal, followed by two quick points. The final three minutes proved to be the most exciting of the game. Christy_Keogh had a chance at a goal from 14 yards out but the shot was saved by the Cork Goalkeeper, Martin_Coleman, as he dived full-lengyh across the goalmouth. The ball was cleared by John Horgan and the game was over. Cork had won their second consecutive All-Ireland title. ==All-Ireland_Senior_Hurling_Championship== {{footballbox | date = July_17
