WUMB-FM (91.9 FM) in Boston, Massachusetts) is the radio station of University of Massachusetts Boston, and broadcasts an adult album alternative music format known as "the WUMB music mix".[1] The station has received many awards for its previous folk music programming.[2]
WUMB can be heard throughout Massachusetts on repeater signals owned and operated by the UMass in Worcester (WBPR 91.9 FM), Newburyport (WNEF 91.7 FM), Falmouth (WFPB-FM 91.9 FM), and Orleans (WFPB 1170 AM). WUMB-FM can also be heard on the Internet and through the iTunes radio tuner service.
WFPB was originally a sister station of WKPE-FM until it was donated to UMass in 1999 by its then-owner, Grancam Communications.
WUMB-FM is noncommercial and operates as a United States-style public radio station, and also carries some NPR programming.
Each year since 1997, WUMB sponsored a live folk festival held at the University of Massachusetts, Boston called the Boston Folk Festival.[3]
