[edit] Club career

His former clubs were Cruzeiro Esporte Clube and AFC Ajax. His contract with Ajax was shortened to expire on the 2nd of January 2006, in order to join Internazionale on a free transfer. Due to one non-EU and non-Serie A player registration quota per year, he was loaned to Empoli F.C., however he did not play any games. In July 2006, Internazionale officially announced the signing of Maxwell on a four-year contract.

Maxwell impressed in his first season in Serie A, most notably against Parma at the San Siro when he scored a fine solo effort which was voted Inter's goal of the season by Inter channel viewers.

Initially placed at left-back, the 07-08 season saw him move further up the field with Cristian Chivu replacing him at left-back while Maxwell played a left midfield/winger role. This became very effective as Maxwell adapted well to the winger role which made use of his blistering pace. In that season he won his second consecutive Scudetto with Inter. In the 2008/2009 he got a serious injury for 6 weeks. But the following games he always was in the starting eleven and showed his good old form. He made his second goal for Inter on the 14. December 2008 against Chievo Verona, which they won 4-2 after a beautiful pass from Dejan Stankovic.

[edit] International career

He was called up to the Brazil squad in June 2008 against Argentina, but the following games not, because he was injured. He currently waits to make his debut for his Brazil side.
