Agree. Henrik 15:29, 12 June 2006 (UTC)

Two links listed, The illustration news portal and Portfolios do not appear to be authoritative and I would recommend they be removed as linkspan. The others appear to be non-profit organizations related to the field. Rezimmerman (talk) 20:48, 15 May 2008 (UTC)

Added a link to the Guild of Natural Science Illustrators http://www.gnsi.org/ Fleabox (talk) 21:05, 13 August 2008 (UTC)

I'd like to add the link to the recent conference of the Guild of Natural Science Illustrators, which was a big event: http://www.lusack.home.sg23.com/gnsifl/national-conference/pages/home.html but I am not quite sure whether this is appropriate, since the other links are to organizations, not to conferences. educational section[edit]

someone should list/describe educational paths that one should consider in order to become an illustrator.

  • I've just added some info about possible routes into the proffession. Jagosilver 11:45, 16 September 2006 (UTC)

First sentence[edit]

"An illustrator is a graphic artist who specializes in enhancing writing by providing a visual representation that corresponds to the content of the associated text." I disagree with this sentence but don't know how to rephrase it. Illustrators illustrate more than just text; there are also illustrations of concepts and themes, as in greeting cards as well as fashion illustrators, pin-up illustrations, etc.

First sentence suggestion added by Rezimmerman (talk) 20:15, 15 May 2008 (UTC)
"An illustrator is an artist who creates works intended for commercial purposes such as to enhance or broaden the impact of magazine and newspaper articles, advertising, packaging, books, and other commercially available products where artwork is perceived to add value.
