Mail from Google disappearing

Cannot get test emails from your Gmail box working? There is a known problem with Gmail that goes like this:

  1. You send an email from your user@gmail.com mailbox to your user@domain.com (where domain.com is hosted on a Shared Accelerator)
  2. The mail is received by the Shared Accelerator and gets properly forwarded to user@gmail.com as per your forwarding preferences
  3. Nothing appears in your Gmail account of user@gmail.com

Everything is correct from our point, but Gmail just eats mail which originates and arrives forwarded at the same Gmail mailbox. Regular mail (where sender's address and forwarding address differ) will work fine though.

See this Gmail page about it and look for the message in your archived mail ('All Mail').
