Activision Blizzard has reportedly left the PC Gaming Alliance.

While no official announcement has been made, Kotaku reports that it has confirmed Activision’s exit, with a PCGA spokesperson telling the site that "a few members have decided they cannot justify the budget (membership and staff) required to maintain an active role in the PC Gaming Alliance at this time."

The fact that the publishing powerhouse's logo isn't listed on the member page of the PCGA's website adds weight to the report.

Activision Blizzard, which owns major PC properties including World of Warcraft and Call of Duty, was one of the founding members of the PCGA when it formed in February last year with a mission to drive the worldwide growth of PC gaming.

Current PCGA members include Intel, AMD, Nvidia, Dell, Microsoft, Capcom and Epic Games.

Edge-Online has reached out to the PCGA and Activision Blizzard for comment.

PCGA president Randy Stude, also of Intel, has seemingly confirmed Activision Blizzard's departure, telling Edge-Online in a statement:

“The PC Gaming Alliance is an industry consortium that relies on membership dues to achieve its’ mission.   Membership turnover is a fact of life in any industry consortium particularly so in the current economy.  Recently, a few members have decided they cannot justify the budget (membership and staff) required to maintain an active role in the PC Gaming Alliance at this time. 

"However, we have also added several new members yielding a net gain for 2009. Our current membership includes some of the biggest names in the gaming industry including Epic Games, Capcom, Microsoft, Wild Tangent, Gamestop,  Digital River, Sony, Intel, NVIDIA, AMD, Hewlett Packard, Dell, Logitech, Antec, The EMA, Howies Game Shack, Razer and SMU Guildhall.”
