It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us, we were all going direct to heaven, we were all going direct the other way - in short, the period was so far like the present period, that some of its noisiest...
Wow... I mean, here in South America there is a strong metal culture, specially some kind of predilection for those heavy 80's bands, and Anvil has it's place there. In few words, WE FUCKING LOVE THEM!...
This year too many great bands are comming to visit us in Colombia: Kiss, Heaven and Hell, Motörhead, the second comming of Iron Maiden after their show on February 28th last year, and Judas Priest... I'm pretty sure that if Anvil opens a space for us, we shall wellcome them with our open arms...
This was random and bizarre given that my interview just went up today!
My hubby was in the lobby of NPR in Culver City and just saw someone hand Christopher Guest and Michael McKean from Spinal Tap a copy of the Anvil movie. He told them it was an amazing film and said that they should tour with Anvil -- that it'd be a great double-bill. Michael responded by saying something like, "Oh, yeah, that's a good idea. We'll have to flip a coin and see who headlines that one." Dunno if he was being sarcastic but It'd be too much fun if it happened.
Gawd! I saw Anvil perform to a packed house at Roxanne's in Hull Quebec somewhere in '89 or '90. They were loud, they were raw and they were awesome. It's good to see they're still at it and I'm looking forward to seeing the movie. If you like it loud and tight, I highly recommend seeing them.
