1.1 What is SuicideGirls?
For a good rundown of what SuicideGirls is, you should check out our little tour.
To learn more about the history of SuicideGirls and the people that work here, take a look at our about page.
1.2 Can I model for SuicideGirls?
Maybe. Everything you ever wanted to know about being a model for SuicideGirls can be found in our Girls FAQ.
You can apply to model by filling out a model application. We get close to 3000 applications a week, so if it takes us a little while to get back to you, please be patient.
1.3 Can I take pictures for SuicideGirls?
Maybe. First you should check out our Photographer FAQ for all the info you'll need to get started.
After you check out the FAQ, you should e-mail a link to your portfolio to photographycoordinator@suicidegirls.com. You should hear back from her shortly with further information if she likes your work.
1.4 The staff wasn't fair to me, who can I make an appeal to?
No one. Whining about things not being fair is for grade school kids and college professors. Those of us who live in the real world think you should shut up and move on.
1.5 Hey! Why don't you start a suicideboys.com? That's a great idea!
Man, that IS a great idea! Actually, I'm sorry, but someone already thought of it. Suicideboys is just one of the many member groups we have here at SG. Anyone can join up to post their own pictures or just check out all the fine tail. There's no application or screening process, but neither do SBs get paid. It's just for fun.
1.6 I heard this rumor about SG, is it true?
Head on over to our Trash Can to sort through the garbage said about SuicideGirls and get our take on rumors, drama, and misinformation.
2.1 Who are the SuicideGirls?
The SuicideGirls are exceptionally interesting and stylish beautiful women from all over the world. They are the most crush worthy women we could find on the planet, the girls with style and grace and sexiness that we love.
2.2 If I message SuicideGirl will she write me back?
It depends on what you write. These are real girls and are not paid to respond to you or to lead you on. Most of the girls genuinely enjoy receiving messages and will reply to you if you say something interesting to them. A bad opening line: You have a great ass, wanna screw? A better opening line: I thought the photos of you were very beautiful. In your profile you said your favorite movie was Zero Effect, did you know that the guy who wrote it and directed it was only 21?
2.3 How do you decide on themes of the photosets?
We don't. The girls pick out their own outfits, themes, do their own hair and make-up. Each set a girl submits is to us is her impression of what she thinks is sexy or cute. Some of the girls even take their own pictures of themselves.
3.1 Can I join even if I don't have a credit card or US checking account (9 digit routing number)?
You can join for one year by sending a money order or cashiers check made out to SG Services, Inc for $50 US to this address:
SG Services
5482 WIlshire Blvd. 1925
Los Angeles, CA 90036
Please include your email address and the username and password (between 6 and 8 characters long) you would like.
3.2 Can I pay with PayPal?
Unfortunately, PayPal has decided not to do business with adult businesses so we are unable to offer memberships through their service. We would if we could but we can't so we don't.
3.3 I only have a debit card, can I use that? What about a pre-paid card?
If your debit card has a VISA or MasterCard logo on it, you can use it exactly like you'd use a credit card. Don't use the "online check" option, use the "credit card" option. Unfortunately, we are unable to accept pre-paid or gift cards, which is why it's not working when you try to sign up with one. Sorry!
3.4 How do I change my credit card number/check details?
Click "MY SG" in the upper right hand corner of any page and click on Settings in the pink toolbar, under "Manage Your Stuff." Enter your username and password in the yellow box on the left, under "Log into Billing." You can change your payment info there.
3.5 When will I be charged next? How do I change my payment plan?
Click "MY SG" in the upper right hand corner of any page and click on Settings in the pink toolbar, under "Manage Your Stuff." Enter your username and password in the yellow box on the left, under "Log into Billing." You can view your next payment date and change your payment options there.
3.6 How do I cancel my account?
If you do decide to cancel you account, you can Click "MY SG" in the upper right hand corner of any page and click on Settings in the pink toolbar, under "Manage Your Stuff." Enter your username and password in the yellow box on the left, under "Log into Billing." You'll then be brought to a page where you can cancel by entering the correct info on the right side under "Cancel Your Account."
If you cancelled your account but it has not yet expired, you may uncancel your account by following the steps outlined above.
3.7 How do I reactivate an expired account?
Simply go to the join page and fill in the information in the "REACTIVATE YOUR ACCOUNT" box which is at the bottom on the left side column.
3.8 Can I give the gift of SG?
You can! Just go to our handy gift page and follow the instructions.
Once you purchase the gift, it generates a code, which your friend or loved one uses to open their account. You will then receive an email containing all the info you need to know to redeem a gift. You can even choose to let our system send the gift directly to your friend. Or, you can forward them the gift code as a surprise, or print it out and stuff it in a birthday card. Whatever you want to do. It's fun and easy.
Immediately after you purchase the gift, you will receive an email receipt containing the gift code URL. It will look something like this:
http://suicidegirls.com/redeem/a01bba0124ccda0539d0/
The URL you receive in your email is exactly what your friend needs to click on in order to redeem their gift and start their SuicideGirls membership.
The gift membership will be active for the amount of time you purchase, starting from the date your friend redeems the account. So, if you buy them a 3 month gift membership and they don't redeem the code until next year, they still get 3 months.
Also: If your friend used to be an SG member, they can reactivate their old membership, if they wish.
3.9 Help! My friend never received my SG gift membership / my friend never redeemed their gift membership! What do I do?
Gift memberships are 100% transferrable. So you can just forward the gift code to someone else. The gift code is a URL which is mailed to you (and if you choose, your lucky friend) as soon as you purchase the gift.
You can check to see if someone redeemed your gift code by simply clicking on the gift code URL in your email. If the page says something like "this code is not valid", then the code has been claimed.
If you or your friend lost the gift code, simply fill out a help request.
3.10 Is it true that if I get a tattoo of the SG logo I get a free lifetime membership?
Yes. It must be the logo, it must be big enough to be legible, and you can't change it in any way. For details please join the SG Army group and check around in there. You'll find all the information you need about how to get free stuff by getting a corporate logo forever emblazened upon your skin.
3.11 I'm having a problem, who can I contact?
Well, peruse the FAQ, and if you don't find any answers you can visit the a help request and submit your problem. Please do not email the staff directly as they don't check their email as often as what gets submitted to the help form. You'll be replied to quicksmart and the chances are all your problems will go away! Well the ones we can help with anyway.
If all else fails, you can call our customer service line at: 310-228-7443.
4.1 How do I log in?
Enter your username and password in the boxes at the upper right hand corner of this page, just above the black "browse girls' box. Or just click here!.
4.2 I forgot my password/my password isn't working, what do i do??
First, make sure your cookies are enabled in your browser. Second, make sure the password you enter is the exact one you chose, passwords are case sensitive so if your password is: JakE and you enter: jake, it won't accept it.
If it's still not working, go to the help page and enter your email address into the password troubles box. Your password will be changed and a new one will be sent to you.
4.3 My password was emailed to me - was my account hacked!?
No, your account was not hacked. You can request for your password to be changed on the help page page by entering the email address on your account into the password troubles box. This is the only way your password will be sent out, and it will only be sent to the email address on your account. You will need to use the new password specified in the email to log into the site.
4.4 How can I change my password?
Click "MY SG" in the upper right hand corner of any page and click on Settings in the pink toolbar, under "Manage Your Stuff." You can change your password in the top box on the right hand side.
4.5 Can I share my account with my friends?
Everytime you let a friend sign in to the site with your username and password, a SuicideGirl cries. If the system catches two computers logged in at the same time browsing the site, your account will be terminated and you will not be given a refund. If there are too many seperate IPs accessing the site in a set period of time your account will be terminated and you will not be given a refund. If you're identifying yourself as two different people, you will first be warned to get two accounts, and then your account will be terminated.
4.6 What kind of behavior can get my account suspended?
Having a public profile that allows you to post to the boards is a right that is very easily lost. The general rule of thumb is do not scare or make uncomfortable any other members or SuicideGirls and do not make the jobs of the people who work on this site harder then need be.
Do not make racist or sexist remarks.
Do not attempt to hack the site or run scripts on the site. Do not use a fraudulent credit card when joining the site.
Do not violate our terms of service.
4.7 I think America deserved 9/11. I think black people are stupid. I think the Jews are trying to take over the world. Can I espouse those viewpoints on your site?
No you can't. Freedom of Speech does not apply to posting on SuicideGirls. We are a private club and may remove you as a member of our club for any number of idiotic statements, including but not limited to: sexist statements, racist statements, conspiracy theories, hurtful remarks, threats of violence, demands upon the staff or members, delibrate lieing, attacks upon the staff, just good old fashioned idiocy.
If you think this rule in some way infringes upon your liberties or freedom of expression I suggest you read On Liberty by John Stuart Mill (1806 - 1873), a critically important exploration on the ethics of tolerating opinions that you find repugnant and what a private citizen is obligated to do in the face of speech they disagree with. Mr. Mill suggests that private publications and people may not use the law to surpress other's opinions but they have no obligation to promote or associate with people who hold those opinions. Mill differentiates between not helping others find opinions of which you disapprove (which he thinks is acceptable) and actively working to prevent them from accessing those opinions in other publications, mediums or forums (which he condemns).
5.1 What is the difference between a public profile and an anonymous one?
When you first log into the site you are given the option of having a public account or an anonymous account on the site. You can always go back and change which kind of account you have by clicking on the "Settings button" in the upper right hand corner of the screen when you are logged into the site.
If you choose an anonymous account, no one can see any information about who you are on the site. Your account is completely invisible and can only be accessed by staff for tech support reasons. You can look at all the images on the site and movies on the site, but can't participate in any of the commenting or board postings.
If you choose to have a public account on the site you can create a member profile for yourself. An example of a member profile is here. Once you have a public profile, you can post to the boards, leave comments on picture sets, contact SuicideGirls and members, and be contacted by other members and by SuicideGirls. Anyone can search for your profile on the Local page, and your profile is linked from every post and comment you make on the site.
You can switch at any time to having a public or anonymous profile on your settings page.
5.2 How to I change my password/email address/profile information?
To change your profile:
Click "MY SG" in the upper right hand corner of any page and click on "Profile" in the pink toolbar, under "Manage Your Stuff." There you can enter your desired profile information. You will not have this option if you do not have a public profile.
To change your password or email address:
Click "MY SG" in the upper right hand corner of any page and click on Settings in the pink toolbar, under "Manage Your Stuff." You can change your password in the top box on the right hand side.
5.3 Can I put swear words in my profile?
No. And fuck you for asking, you asshole.
5.4 I can't set my date of birth. I'm getting an error.
You must be over 18 to have an account with SuicideGirls. If, for a joke, you're trying to make yourself to be 3, well, you deserve all the errors you get, don't you?
5.5 How do I change my username?
Go to your main Profile Page. In the upper right hand corner of your profile blurb there is a button that says 'EDIT' - click on it to change your alias and profile layout.
If the name you want to change it to is taken, try a different spelling or ad an underscore.
5.6 How do I change my profile picture?
Click MY SG at the top of the page, and then click "Profile" under Manage My Stuff. You can upload up to three pictures to show up on your profile, and the first one will be the one that shows up when you post to the boards and in groups.
After you upload a new picture, it can take some time to change on the site, so don't freak out if it doesn't change right away. Try clearing your cache:
On most PC browsers
Hold down the control (CTRL) key and the F5 key together to clear your cache. If this does not work, go to Tools, Options, click on the Clear History, then click on the Delete Files button.
On Safari (Mac OSX)
Hold down the option key, the apple key, and the e key all together to clear your cache.
If your browser isn't listed here, use your browsers help to find out how to clear your cache.
If it hasn't changed after 24 hours, then your picture was probably not sized correctly so you should check the dimensions and make sure it is 235 x 175 pixels.
5.7 I can't upload my profile pic. What's wrong with me?
Check that your image is a JPEG (.jpg), GIF (.gif), BITMAP (.bmp) or PNG (.png) file. Your image must be under 100kB. You should resize your image to 235 x 175 px because if it is a different size it will appear stretched or squished when you upload it.
If you don't know what any of this means, you can post on the the boards for help.
5.8 How do I update/edit/delete my blog?
Click MY SG at the top of the page, and then click BLOG under "Manage your stuff" in the pink box at the top. Enter your desired text in the text box and click "add blog."
You can edit an existing entry right from your main page. Above the entry there is a "Edit" button. Click that to edit the entry.
You cannot delete a blog entry.
5.9 How do I make my blog visible to SuicideGirls members only?
Members can check the box marked "MEMBERS ONLY (SG Members Only)" underneath the text box for each blog. This means that only logged in SuicideGirls members can read your entry. Please bear in mind, your mom could be a member. Really.
If you fear this may be the case, you can also choose "FRIENDS ONLY" so that only your SuicideGirl Friends can see that blog.
5.10 How do I add a link or an image to my blog entry?
You can add a link by just typing it out in full like so: http://suicidegirls.com/ or you can click where it says URL next to "insert:" you'll then get two pop-ups, one for the word you want to be the link, and one for the web address.
To embed an image in your blog entry, find the address of the image you want, paste it into your journal. At the start of the address put . It will look like this:

Your image must be viewable on the web somewhere. You cannot add images directly from your hard drive. If you need a place to host the image you want to display, you can use the fancy "attach image" feature right below the box where you type.
The image MUST end with a .jpg, .jpeg, .gif or .png in order to display. You cannot embed a .bmp image.
To find the address of an image:
On PC
Right click on the image and select "properties". The image location or address will be listed in the box that pops up. You can cut and paste this address.
On Mac
Option click the image and select "view image in new window". Highlight the address in the address bar and cut and paste it.
5.11 Oh my god, I can only see one of my journal entries! Where'd all my other ones go?!
Please remain calm. Nothing is wrong. Just underneath your current journal entry is a date and an arrow. This is the date of your last journal entry, click on it and you'll go to it. You can also scroll back and forth through past journal entries with the arrows or dates.
5.12 Can I update my journal using desktop blogging software?
You can use a desktop app to update and edit your journal entries on SG with any application that uses the MetaWebLog API. Enter the URL to your SG profile page, and login with your SG username (NOT your alias) and password.
For more details and software recommendations, please visit our technology page.
6.1 How do I upload a picture to my pics?
Click on MY SG in the top right hand cornerof the page, then click on "Pics" in the pink tool bar, under "Manage Your Stuff".
To add pics, you must first set up a folder. You can have up to 10 folders, each will hold a maximum of 60 pics. Add your folder and a form will appear letting you upload pics. Go crazy!
6.2 I'm having trouble uploading pictures. Help!
You have a limit of 60 pictures per folder. You can have up to 10 folders. If you're wondering where your upload form went, you've probably filled all your folder up. Delete some pics, or add another folder, and the form will come back.
If you're having problems uploading the picture itself, check that it's in JPEG (.jpg) or GIF (.gif) format, and that it's under 250kB.
Make sure you specify a comment for your picture.
If you uploaded a new profile picture but you're still seeing the old one, hold down shift and click the refresh or reload button on your browser. If that doesn't help try clearing your cache.
6.3 I logged in but I am still seeing ads instead of images, why?
Clear your browsers cache and you will see the correct image.
If this happens often, you can adjust your cache settings so it checks for the correct image every time.
If your browser isn't listed here, or you don't know how to clear your cache, check your browsers help.
6.4 How do I post an image on the boards / in the groups / in my blog?
Your image must be viewable on the web somewhere. You cannot add images directly from your hard drive. If you need a place to host the image you want to display add it to the "pics" section of your profile, or use the handy "attach image" feature below the comment box to attach your image to the post.
To post the image, find the address of the image you want, and then paste it into your message. If you do not click the "Insert Image" button, you will need to put at the end. If you click the Insert Image button, you don't have to worry about the IMG stuff, it will be taken care of. Once you're done, it should look like this:

The image MUST end with a .jpg, .jpeg, .gif or .png in order to display. You cannot embed a .bmp image.
To find the address of an image:
On PC
Right click on the image and select "properties". The image location or address will be listed in the box that pops up. You can cut and paste this address.
On Mac
Control click the image and select "view image in new window". Highlight the address in the address bar and cut and paste it.
6.5 How do I edit my album or delete pictures?
Click on the album cover to go to the album, and then click the big green EDIT button in the upper right hand corner. This will open the Photo Wizard.
TO DELETE PICTURES:
Scroll down to the thumbnails of the images and click on the little trash can icon in the corner to delete the pictures.
TO DELETE THE ALBUM:
In the first box under "Album Information", there should be a column on the right hand side where you can set who can see the album and you will see the option to delete it. Check the boxes where you want to remove the album from and then click "Save Changes". To delete it from everywhere, make sure all the boxes are checked.
TO CHANGE THE ORDER OF THE IMAGES:
In the second box, you can click and drag the thumbnails to put them in whatever order you like, and make sure to click "Save Changes."
TO CHANGE THE ALBUM COVER:
Drag a thumbnail on top of the card under "Select Cover", then use the selection box to crop the image for the album cover, and remember to "Save Changes."
6.6 Can I link the pictures I uploaded outside of SuicideGirls?
No. The pictures you upload are only viewable to logged in SuicideGirls members, so there is no point linking them outside SG. People who are not logged in to SuicideGirls will see an ad.
6.7 How can I upload a video? What can my video be like?
Go to your profile and click on the VIDEOS tab. There, you can upload a video!
Your video can be anything you want as long as it is your own video and does not include copyrighted material. You can be naked, but please no porn.
6.8 What kinds of files can I upload? How big can it be?
Your video must be either a Quicktime, fla, avi, mpeg, real or windows file and it must be under 100mb, or shorter than 10 minutes long.
6.9 My video isn't uploading! What the crap?
Make sure your video is one of the accepted file types and that it is under 100mb. If it's a correct file type, it should go through.
Still can't get it to work? Try uploading it to Youtube, if possible. If it works there, it should work here. If it doesn't, you're using some weird format even the world's largest video uploading site can't read, and should probably look into using a different type of video.
6.10 What are tags?
Tags are a good way to find photosets that have similar elements, such as themes, hair color or tattoos. Tags are not the place to leave comments.
6.11 What are examples of good and bad tags?
GOOD TAGS
"Red hair", "full sleeve", "pierced nipples", "white background", and "underwater" are all good tags. They're specific enough to be helpful, and common enough to be found in other photosets. A general rule is that if it describes something that's in the set (preferably something prominent or distinctive, like an unusual object, or a dominant background color), it's probably okay to tag it. Yes, good tags are boring. If you want to be funny, go to the Silliness board, or leave your "tag" as a comment on the girl's set.
BAD TAGS
Tags like "naked", "eyes", and "ass" are applicable to every single photoset on the site and don't help. Don't just tag "feet," say something about the feet in question, if they're so remarkable that they're noteworthy. Likewise, you don't need to point out that a girl is "beautiful" or "hot." It's pretty much a given that someone is going to think that about every girl on the site, and your opinion doesn't make it a good tag.
Full sentences are unnecessary, as is punctuation. Obviously anything insulting will not be tolerated. Tags like these are deleted, and getting several tags deleted (for whatever reason) will get you banned from tagging and possibly from the site depending on the offense.
Tags are not the place for inside jokes or things that only make sense to you.
The tags section on a set is not the Silliness board. Specially-trained teams of anal-retentive tag nazis who hate fun and have no sense of humor (they have day jobs in accounting) will delete "bad" tags regardless of how funny they are.
6.12 I can't tag a set! What's up?
When this happens, someone has turned off tagging on that set. An SG can turn off tagging for all of her sets so that only she can tag them, and if one of the girls in a multiple-girl set has them turned off, none of her multiple-girl sets will be able to be tagged by anyone other than the participants.
7.1 How do I add a friend to my friends list?
You can visit the person's profile that you wish to befriend, and click the "ADD AS FRIEND" under their member name.
7.2 How do I remove a name from my friends list?
Oh, it's like that is it? Go to your profile and click on the FRIENDS tab and your friends list will show up. Click the trash can icon in the corner of their profile pic to remove them from your friends list.
7.3 My friend isn't showing up on my friends list anymore. Why god, why?
If someone decides they don't want to be friends with you anymore, they will disappear off your list. This can also happen if someone on your friends list makes their own profile anonymous, but if they make their profile public again, they will magically re-appear. Isn't that rad? Yes, I thought so.
7.4 I don't have any friends, how come?
If you are a socially inept loser in real life, shunned by regular society into a life of complete solitude, chances are the same thing will happen to you here too. SuicideGirls is not a magical place full of people who don't mind your horrible personality and lack of social graces - It's just another group of people congregating together. Perhaps you should consider getting a tivo and a dog, and just accept that human to human interaction may not be for you. If you're really desperate for human interaction and none of these things are working why don't you try one of those online role playing games, at least then if people don't like you you can cast on a spell on them or kill them with a sword to make yourself feel better.
Or you could take the advice of the far kinder s5, who has these 6 easy steps for you to follow if you're looking to make friends:
(1) Post. That's right, you actually have to post. People aren't going to flock to talk to you just because you joined a website. And if you think they should, why haven't you flocked to every new member who joined since you did? See, you're no better than everyone else. Other people actually have to know you exist before they'll talk to you.
(2) Write posts that are revealing or interesting! Or at least, post regularly. The more you say, the more you reveal about yourself or stuff you care about. This helps the right people find you (the "right people" = "people who have common interests" or are otherwise likeminded). If you're a jackass, step (2) might work against you. Then again, it might not.
(3) Don't make demands on anyone. Really. There is nothing worse than watching someone whine and complain that no one will talk to them. If no one will talk to you, maybe it's because you're a newcomer or you haven't made the right kind of effort. Don't complain or make demands on people. Do something about it. You actually need to make the first step forward.
(4) Don't try too hard. Don't be too eager. Be patient. Relax, have a good time, talk to some people. In time, you'll get to know a few people, go to some local events, etc etc.
(5) Stop thinking you're in high school. Lose the "popular kids" vs "outcasts" mentality, and you'll go far in life. What appears to be a close-minded clique is often times just a group of people who've known each other for months or even years. Don't expect to duplicate that level of intimacy simply because you paid $12 to join a website. Furthermore, the world is not a John Hughes movie.
(6) Have a sense of humor. (6) is probably the most important of all of them. Laugh at your own expense sometimes. Don't cry. Don't hold grudges. Lighten up! None of this matters anyway.
7.5 Why can't I add certain people to my friends list?
When someone has set it to auto-decline all friendship requests you will not see an option to add them as a friend on their profile page. You can, however, bookmark their journal and stalk them there without them even knowing.
To bookmark a profile, go to the users page and click BOOKMARK PROFILE in the top box in their profile, or type this link into your browser:
http://suicidegirls.com/members/MEMBERNAME/bookmarkinteresting/
7.6 Help! I bookmarked someone as interesting and now they're boring!
To unbookmark a profile, go to the users page and click REMOVE BOOKMARK in the top box in their profile, or type this link into your browser:
http://suicidegirls.com/members/MEMBERNAME/deletebookmark/
7.7 How can I stop people from requesting my friendship?
Go to your settings page and locate the checkbox that says "Auto-decline friend requests" - once you check that box and hit submit, people will be blocked from requesting you as a friend. You are still free to request friendship from others who have not enabled this feature.
7.8 I can't for the life of me figure out what that little balloon thing by my friend's name is. What's the deal?
If someone on your friends list has a balloon by their name (it also shows up in their posts) it means it's their birthday, you insensitive bastard.
7.9 What are testimonials?
Think of a testimonial like writing a reference for someone's resumé. This is where you get to sum up someone you know in glowing terms, or trash them like the bitch they are. It's a summary of how you feel about someone and basically a recommendation to other people. Watch out though, if you say something nasty or reveal any secrets the recipient of your testimonial doesn't want to hear, they can delete it.
7.10 Can I edit or delete a testimonial?
You can delete testimonials that people leave for you. Simply hit the delete button next to the date of the testimonial.
You can delete or edit a testimonial you leave for someone else. You'll see the delete and edit button beside the date of the testimonial.
7.11 A member is bugging the crap out of me, can I just ignore them?
If a member is a little annoying please just use the ignore feature on the site and avoid them. You can go to their profile and click "Ignore Member", or type in this url:
http://suicidegirls.com/members/MEMBERNAME/ignore/
When you have someone on ignore, they can still read your blogs, but they will not be able to post comments on them or send you any messages, and their comments in groups and on the boards will be under spoilers.
If any member is seriously harming your experience on the site making your experience unbearable, you may flag a particular comment by clicking the little red flag in the upper right hand corner of the post or message. This will pop up a window where you can enter a detailed description of the problem and links to any offending comments so staff can review the problem and, if appropriate, ban the member from the site.
8.1 How do I set or change my favourite Suicidegirls?
When you visit a models' page/blog, up at the top near their name is the option to 'ADD TO FAVES' - click there and she will be stored in your favorites for all to see. If you should choose to remove her from your faves, just visit her blog again and click where it reads 'REMOVE FROM FAVES'. You can up to 20 favorites! No more than that though, dont be greedy.
8.2 I have so many favourite girls! Can't I have more choices?
No. But you're free to change your favourite girls as often as you please.
8.3 How do I add and remove favorite pics?
To add a picture to your favorite pics, go to set and launch the gallery that contains the pic you want. Click on the pic number, and then click on the "heart" button that appears. Doing this will automatically add that picture to your favorite pics gallery.
To remove a pic from your favorites gallery, go to your profile and click on the FAVES tab. Click the little trash can icon at the bottom of the thumbnail to remove the pic from your favorites.
8.4 I keep trying to add a picture to my favorites gallery, but it doesn't work!
Ok. You either already have that picture in your gallery, or you have gone over the limit of pictures you get to set as favorites. You get 250 pictures in your favorites gallery, and if you try and add more, we will ignore your request! You'll have to delete some that are already in there to make way for new ones.
8.5 How do I bookmark a topic?
Go to the thread you want to bookmark, and click the "bookmark" button at the upper right.
8.6 Uh oh, that thread sucks! How do I unbookmark it?
Remember that bookmark button you clicked at the top of the topic? It now says "unbookmark" just click it!
8.7 Where the heck are my bookmarks??
Click on MY SG in the top right hand cornerof the page. In the grey box, select "bookmarks comments" - this will pull up a list of all the threads you have bookmarked. You can click on them to view the thread, and you can delete them this way, too.
9.1 What do all the different posting colors mean?
Let's break it down:
Yellow: Your own post.
Green: A staff member or moderator's post.
Blue: A post made by someone on your friends list.
Pink: A post made by a SuicideGirl.
Grey: Posts made by regular members who are not you, an administrator, your friend, or a SuicideGirl.
9.2 What do all the different name colors mean?
The names of members on comments look different depending on the status of that member. Here's a handy guide:
Pink: an active member with a public profile!
Grey: a member whose membership has lapsed.
Black: an anonymous member who may or may not have a current membership.
Black with a line through: a member that has lost their posting privileges who may or may not have a current membership.
9.3 Who are Lil Tuffy and Shalome?
They're site moderators who help keep the site a nice place to be. When they talk, we listen!
9.4 Can I be a moderator too?
SG Moderator is an invite only position; we don't take applications. Invitations are extended to those who are established pillars of sanity and calm within the community.
9.5 What does the "REPLY" button do on posts?
Clicking the "REPLY" button at the top of someone's post will quote the original text in your reply. Click "Reply" and then enter your text below theirs!
9.6 What does the "LINK" button do on posts?
Clicking on "LINK" at the top of someone's post will put the URL of that particular post in the address bar on your browser, allowing you to be able to "link" directly to that post.
9.7 What is all this flagging business?
People who have been around for 9 months or longer can flag posts made to the boards. If you don't see the flag link on each post, you haven't been around long enough. Sorry! It doesn't mean you're less of a person, we just had to draw the line somewhere. 9 months is long enough to grow a baby, so we figure it's long enough to figure out what's ok and not ok on the SG boards.
When you click the flag button, a box will pop up asking you to explain why you're flagging the comment. Fill this in, and it'll get forwarded to a pool of moderators.
Please feel free to flag posts that you know violate SG's terms of service or board rules. This includes abusive comments, racism...hate speech in general.
Please do not flag posts that you just plain disagree with, you think aren't funny, you find worthless, or are repeat threads.
9.8 My topic was closed or deleted and I'm pissed, what can I do about it?
Cancel your membership and go somewhere else in protest. If a thread is closed or deleted and you wish to continue discussing the issue and you decide to post another thread on the same topic or one in protest of the deletion your account will prohibited from posting to the site in the future.
10.1 I joined a group but I can't post to it!
You probably joined a private group. This means that your membership to the group has to be approved by the group administrator. Just give it a few days, and when you're approved an email will show up to let you know.
10.2 What's up with regional groups? Why are there so many requirements to join?
The most common entry requirement for a regional group is for you to have a few blog entries, and maybe a few friends -- the local groups are active, and they like adding people who will contribute.
A lot of the larger regional groups, especially Los Angeles and San Francisco, have stricter requirements, and for a very good reason. A lot of regional events take place at members' houses. In regional groups, you might wind up finding out people's real names, where they work, where they live, what their phone number is, and other personal things like that. LA and SF also are home to a lot of Suicidegirls.
The entry requirements are to make sure you're not a creepy person, a stalker-type, or a jerk. Regional group owners tend to be protective of the people in their groups -- we'd hate to see a Sucidegirl get stalked through a regional group, or a member's house get trashed by an asshole at a regional group party, or anything like that (and these things used to happen before the entry requirements got put in place).
It's really just to keep everyone safe and happy and having a good time.
10.3 I want my own group. How can I get it?
Apply for your own group using the "add a group" form on the groups page. We'll cast an eye over it, and if we think the group is worthwhile, we'll approve it.
Groups must be approved by the moderators before you can see them. Do not submit your request again. Just wait a bit and you'll get an email about your group soon.
10.4 Why wasn't my group request approved?
The reason for this could be that there is already a group that covers the topic you proposed, or that it wasn't considered suitable for the site. For more information about why your group might not have been approved, you can check out this thread on the boards.
10.5 I want to have an SG event in my group, can I just make one?
Anyone can create a group event and use a regional group to promote the event. The only thing we ask is you do not allow people who have been removed from the SG Community at your events. If you can't follow this rule, you will be removed from the group and no longer allowed to post your events in the future. If you wish to have an event where anyone can be invited, simply do not use SG to promote the event.
When you add an event to a group, you can choose to publish it publically on the main SG calendar by checking "This event is open to the public" box.
10.6 I took some pics at an SG event, can I post them to my group?
Sure. Just be sure not to post any pics of SuicideGirl or member nudity. This is an issue of respect and permission. If you wish to post a picture of yourself nude at an event that is OK, but not of any other members or SuicideGirls, even if you think you have their permission. If you want to send the photo to the person who is nude, they are free to post the picture of themself.
10.7 Our group owner is AWOL! How can we get a new one?
If your group needs a new owner, what you should do is vote on who you want (or have the old owner appoint someone) and then have the old owner send a help request with the name of the group and the name of the new owner. We will change the group ownership for you.
If the old owner is unavailable, just have a vote for the new owner in your group (so that we can know it's not a hostile takeover) and have the new owner submit the help request instead.
10.8 How do I leave a group?
In the header of the group, right underneath the description of the group, is a link that says LEAVE THIS GROUP. If you click it, you may just get out alive.
11.1 Does SuicideGirls have a mobile or iPhone site?
At the moment no, but in the future, maybe!
11.2 Can I upload pics or update my blog from my camera phone?
You can! You can either upload pics directly into a folder on SG, update your journal, or update your blog and embed pics from your phone. It's really easy to set up.
(1) First, go into your settings and scroll down for "SECRET WORD FOR PHONE CAM". After you set your secret word, it will return two email addresses for you to use. They'll look something like this:
journal-yourusername-secretword@suicidegirls.com
pics-yourusername-secretword@suicidegirls.com
(2) Enter these two email addresses into your phone's address book, so you won't have to remember them or type them in by hand every time.
Here's what you can do once it's set up:
To upload pics to your own folder on SG, send the pics from your phone to your "UPLOAD PICS" email address.
To upload pics and post them to your SG journal, send the pics from your phone to your "UPDATE JOURNAL" email address. Any text you include will be posted to your journal.
To simply update your blog with no pics, just send a text message to your "UPDATE JOURNAL" email address.
To find your pics, go into your pics tab on your profile page, and look for a folder called "PHONE CAM PICS".
11.3 Which phones are supported?
Any phone with a camera that supports sending pics is supported. So, pretty much every camera phone that's on the market. As long as your phone gives you the option to send pics to an email address, it will work with SG. We've had good luck with Nokia, Ericsson, the Sidekick, and Motorola. Other phones should work just as well. Please report any problems with compatibility to s5, and he'll have a look.
11.4 What the hell is SMS? MMS? Gah, I'm so confused about all the funny letters!
Okay, take a deep breath. SMS is "short message service". SMS is text-only messaging from your phone. MMS is "multimedia messaging service". MMS is what phones use to send photos, sound, text, etc - you know, multimedia.
If you send us a plain old SMS, it's text-only. So an SMS will only update your journal with text. If you send us an MMS, you can send us multiple pictures and text.
You can choose either "send as email" or "send as MMS." If your phone doesn't say anything about MMS, just put in the email address you already created on your settings page.
11.5 How can I send multiple images or embed multiple images in a single journal entry?
It depends on the phone. If your phone uses MMS, create a new message, add a photo, and write some text. To add more pics, look for an option that says something like "add new page". On the new page, you can add another image and more text. For each image and block of text, you need to add a new page.
If your phone uses regular email instead of MMS, create a new message, and attach your images.
NOTE TO SPRINT USERS: Due to limitations in their system, you can only send us one image at a time.
11.6 Should I set the "Subject" line to anything?
If you want. You'll see it as the image's caption when you open up your phone cam pics folder.
11.7 How do I upload pics to a photo album?
To upload pics to an existing photo album, first set up your camera phone preferences according to the instructions in BLANK BLANK.
Then, go back to the album you were just looking at, and scroll down to "ADD TO ALBUM". If your camera phone preferences have been set up, you should see a section called "PHONECAM". Click on the link to reveal the phonecam address for that album. It should look like something like this:
album-1234-yourusername-yoursecretword@suicidegirls.com
Save that address to your phone's address book, and you can upload to that album from your phone whenever you want.
Note that every album has its own unique email address, so if you want to upload to a different album from your phone, you'll need to visit that album and look for its phonecam address.
Also note: any text you send to a photo album from your phone will be discarded.
11.8 I'm on a Sidekick but I can't read any of the comments. What can I do?
Although we don't officially support the Sidekick at this time, you can see more of the site if you change your browser's encoding settings.
While on the internet browser, click on the upper left hand corner options button (the one that brings up choices like "bookmarks" and what not) and from there drop down to "view" click "encoding" and switch the encoding from "autodetect coding" to "western (windows)."
12.1 How do I log into chat?
Simply click on the CHAT button in the nav bar (just below news) or click here. Please be patient, it may be a bit slow going, but you'll get there eventually.
12.2 How do I get to someone's profile from chat?
To go to someone's profile from chat, click on their name on the left, you'll then see their basic info. For further details, click on "profile."
12.3 How do I ignore someone? They're being pesky.
To ignore someone in chat, click their name in the list on the left. You can then choose "block" from the selections which will appear just below that list.
12.4 I ignored someone I actually like! What do I do? False alarm!!
See how the "block" button became "unblock" after you clicked on it? Just click "unblock" and you'll be all good!
12.5 How come nothing happens when I click on the smilies?
It means your browser does not support LiveConnect. You can either switch browsers to Netscape 4.08 or above (which definitely supports it), or just type in the smiley, like this:
:) - smiley face
:( - frowny face
:P - pokey-out-tongue face
:D - big grinning face
:O - eek face
:puke: - pukey face
:bok: - chicken face!!!
:miao: - pussycat face
:oink: - piggy face
etc....
12.6 What browsers are supported?
Our chat page will work with the following browsers (as tested with Java 1.3.1):
On Windows: Internet Explorer 5.5 and above, Netscape 7.0 and above, Firefox 1.4 and above.
NOTE: Windows XP: You need to make sure you have the Java Virtual Machine installed.
On Mac OS9: Netscape 7.0 and above.
On Mac OSX: Safari, Firefox 1.4 and above, Netscape 7.0 and above. Problems: Safari v75 (comes with Jaguar) has weird problems, but Safari v100 (comes with Panther) seems to be better. Do not use with Camino/Chimera, it will crash your browser. Clicking on smilies may not work - this means your browser does not support LiveConnect. Try Netscape if it really matters to you, or bug Apple about supporting LiveConnect.
On Linux: Untested. You probably know what you're doing anyway. We suggest BitchX.
12.7 Can I use a chat client instead of the chat page?
Nope, you've got to click on CHAT above.
12.8 Help!! When I click on the chat page, all I get is a rows of smilies and an empty grey box, and no chat. What did I do wrong?
This probably means you're running the latest version of Windows, which doesn't have the right Java plugin.
Click here and download the correct plugin from Sun. Run the setup, restart your browser, it should work. You might have to quit everything and reboot your computer.
13.1 What kind of news can I submit?
We think of our news wire as a great way to keep our members informed about everything interesting going on in the world. For examples of the kinds of news we publish, read the news section for a few days.
13.2 How should I format my news submission?
Stories should be between one and four paragraphs in length. It is very important that you write a clear simple subject, and include relevant links in your story. Please look to the newswire front page to see how we format the stories we publish.
13.3 What kind of interview can I submit?
SuicideGirls aims to provide interviews with people relevant to our community. Have a look at the other interviews on the site to get a feel for the kind of interviews we're interested in. Your interview must be exclusive to SuicideGirls and must be your own original work. The better written your piece is, and the more relevant it is to the SG community, the better chance it has of being accepted.
13.4 How should I format my interview submission?
Your interview should first introduce the subject of the interview and provide any relevant links to their work. The introduction should be wrapped in italic tags. Regard:
Random Actor was a huge star in the 1980s and is now making a comeback with this summer's widely anticipated horror, "The Quiet House." Visit Random Actor at his website, http://randomactor.com/.
The introduction can be several paragraphs long or just a sentence.
The first question and answer should be prefaced by your full names, for instance:
Daniel Robert Epstein: Why was your last movie such an abysmal failure?
Random Actor: I think it's because my abs weren't toned enough.
The rest of your questions and answers should use initials. Your name or initials should be within bold tags, like so:
DRE: Was there any reason you were so out of shape?
RA: As a matter of fact, I'd just come off a crippling 12-month addiction to Cheetos.
Please do not use HTML. You may use the macro language used on the site to provide links, bold text, underline, and many other effects. Here is a handy list:
This is in Bold
This is in Italics
This is a link
This is an email address
13.5 I don't have any pics and don't know how to make them, is that ok?
Sure just submit the article and we'll make graphics for you if we choose to publish it.
13.6 How do I use bold, italics, or link to things in my article?
This is in Bold
This is in Italics
This is a link
You just surround the word or words you want to link or make bold or italics with the commands listed above! When you preview your article make sure everything works properly.
You just surround the word or words you want to link or make bold or italics with the commands listed above! When you preview your article make sure everything works properly.
13.7 Can I submit an article someone else wrote?
No, please only submit work you wrote.
13.8 Who owns the article after I submit it?
We do and you are granting us permission to edit, change, alter, reprint or do whatever we like with it in perpetuity throughout the known universe.
13.9 The Whole Universe? For all time?
Yes, even the sombrero galaxy or 5th century B.C. Athens.
13.10 The news is totally biased! Why don't you publish the truth???
The news is submitted by random fuckbags like you and me. For the most part we're not career journalists, just interested onlookers. Editors do strive for a certain degree of quality in news postings, but if you feel your point of view or area of interest is being overlooked, the best thing to do is submit some news yourself!
We are not a reputable, objective news source. Walter Cronkite, Edward R. Murrow and other fat senior citizens who think of news as objective would/do hate the SG Newswire. We are part gossip rag, part talk radio, part daily show, part djs (spinning you the newspaper stories instead of songs). Other sites report; we mangle, spin, pontificate upon, slant and direct you to the stuff on the web we think worthy of your notice, whether for humor's sake, or because it's important.
We report, you decide!
14.1 What is your return policy for shop orders?
Our return policy is always available on our policies page.
14.2 How do I track my order?
When you placed your order, you should have received an email, with a url to track your order. Click on that url to view the most updated status for your order. If you lost the email, contact our customer service, and they'll help you out.
14.3 Can I pay for a shop order with PayPal?
Unfortunately, PayPal has decided not to do business with adult businesses so we are unable to offer memberships through their service. We would if we could but we can't so we don't.
14.4 I need help with my shop order! Who do I contact?
Either send email to shop@suicidegirls.com or call our customer service for shop orders at +1.323.667.9000. Or, just reply to the email you received when you placed your order.
15.1 The site looks all fucked up to me, what can I do?
Make sure you're running the most modern, up to date browser, and any problems should go away. When in doubt, upgrade to the latest version of your browser and try again. For the PC we support IE 7, and for the Mac we support Safari.
Other browsers we support: Firefox 3. Opera 9.6 will display the site properly (mostly), as long as you choose "identify as Internet Explorer". If you're using any other browser, expect to have problems using the site. Definitely NOT supported: Opera 7, Netscape 6, IE 5 and below, Safari 1.5 and below, Firefox 1.
If you're on a PC, your life will be happier if you give up Internet Explorer and start using Firefox instead. If you're using a Mac, your life is already happy. Carry on.
15.2 I have a bug to report, what should I do?
You can send it to bugs@suicidegirls.com, or you can post in the bugs thread on the boards. Bug reports are most welcome but please remember to let us know what browswer and computer type you're on (PC or MAC).
15.3 Do you offer any RSS feeds?
Hell yes! Check out our technology page for details.
15.4 Do you offer any tools for developers? I really want to make one of those awesome new Apple widgets!!
Again, please visit our technology page for details about our API and developer tools.
15.5 I'm still having problems, who can I contact??
Submit a help request and we'll get back to you with a solution! Please make sure to include all the information about your problem so we can get back to you faster, and remember if you are having technical issues to include what browser you are running and whether you are on a PC or a Mac.
The help desk operates from 9am to 6pm PST Monday through Friday, so if you submit a request on Saturday at midnight, you should expect to hear back on Monday.
