What are some of the milestones in Chung Cheng Main’s history?

  • Founded in 1939.
  • Became Special Assistance Programme (SAP) School in 1979.
  • Awarded Autonomous Status in 1996.
  • Attained Singapore Quality Class   (SQC) in 2003.
  • Awarded School Distinction Award (SDA) in 2005.
  • Accorded status as East Zone Centre of Excellence for Chinese in 2005.
  • Reaffirmed Autonomous Status and recertified Singapore Quality Class in 2007.
  • Accorded status as MOE Junior Sports Academy (Wushu) in 2008.

What special programmes does Chung Cheng Main offer to its students?

As a SAP and autonomous school, we have the resources to offer a wide range of special programmes which are being built into our curriculum time. These include:

 

  • Chinese Studies Programme for selected students who has strong foundation in both the English and Chinese Language and the passion for Chinese Culture. Programme highlights include: courses on Chinese History, Chinese Literature, Traditional Arts, English-Chinese Translation and Overseas Immersion Programme.
  • Malay Special Programme for students qualified to take up Malay as a third language in secondary education.
  • Chinese and English Speech and Drama Courses for students to build confidence in public speaking.
  • Life Science Programme comprising 8 weeks of structured lessons on DNA.
  • All Sec 1 and Sec 2 students undergo Chinese calligraphy, Chinese painting, Appreciation of Chinese Culture Lessons and LeadIT Chinese Internet Broadcasting Programme (For Sec 1s only).
  • All Sec 3 students are offered Creative Arts Programme of music, art, drama or dance.

 

In addition, Chung Cheng Main is also the East Zone Centre of Excellence for Chinese, as well as the Junior Sports Academy (Wushu).
