The Tampa Bay Seawater Desalination facility is an integral part of the Tampa Bay region's drinking water supply. The drought-proof, alternative water supply provides up to 25 million gallons per day of drinking water to the region.

The plant uses reverse osmosis membrane technology to remove salts and minerals from seawater to produce drinking water.
