The Radboud University Nijmegen is a university in Nijmegen, The Netherlands. It has been renamed Radboud University Nijmegen (RU) in 2004, after the Radboud foundation.[3]. This foundation was named after Saint Radboud, a Catholic bishop who lived around 900. Until 2004, the Radboud University was called Katholieke Universiteit Nijmegen (Catholic University of Nijmegen).
The university's medical department is linked to the University Medical Center St Radboud which is a large teaching hospital, also located on the Heyendaal campus. The university buildings are scattered around the Heyendaal campus. New building projects include new halls of residence, a sports centre and several science buildings. The university campus is located right next to the Heyendaal railway station. Frequent shuttle buses connect the university to the Central Station and city centre.
