Idaho Amendment 2 appeared on the November 6, 2007 Idaho ballot. It passed with 63% of the vote: 282,301 votes in favor and 163,408 votes again. The measure was legislatively referred to the ballot by the Idaho state assembly.[1]
It created a new amendment to Article III of the Idaho Constitution that reads[2]:
"A marriage between a man and a woman is the only domestic legal union that shall be valid or recognized in this state."

Funding of the campaigns for and against
Three political groups supported the measure, cumulatively spending about $39,000. Opposition to the amendment was mobilized by Idaho Votes No, which spent $106,378.[3]
