So not long ago I was shopping at OfficeMax, buying some Avery mailing labels.

You know how on the packaging, they have a picture of the label on the front, to show it in action, so to speak?

Well Avery 8293 High Visibility Labels featured this image:

I lolled.

I noticed that a while back. A surprising amount of the avery labels have that name on it. The copy editors must be asleep at the wheel.

I wonder how they came up with that address in Wilmington, since it doesn't exist. The closest real address would be Paper Lane, Wilmington 19810...which I'm only aware of since there's a killer Booze-0-Mart in an airplane-hanger sized former Thriftway on Naamans' Road not that far away.

The copy editors never speak of Project Mayhem. Neither should you.

Well 420 is a stoner reference and I would guess the Paper Lane is a crack on the fact it is paper. As for Wilmington Delaware, there is where Fight Club took place if you listen to the DVD commentary.

Yeah, I got that. Why 420 though? The stoner reference doesn't seem to ring true.

Think about someone who would find it the very heighth of hilarity to put a Fight Club reference on a national consumer product. That person would either need brass balls or to be very high.
