Taking action for the World Heritage is above all a celebration of the Earth, its environment and centuries of man-made accomplishments. Each one of us can make a gesture for the preservation of this legacy for the benefit of all.

Although States are the main actors in this conservation process and are supported by UNESCO and its World Heritage Centre; their sole action is not enough anymore to ensure the management of all the needs of the sites inscribed on the World Heritage List.

Partnering is first and foremost bringing together initiatives and institutions, sharing knowledge and information, while demonstrating social responsibility and commitment for the environment.

By being part of the 2000 United Nations Global Compact, UNESCO, guided by principles that will ensure a beneficial cooperation, endeavors to partner efficiently with various institutions.

Numerous partnerships have been set up successfully between the World Heritage Centre and different stakeholders. Publications, promotional tools, conservation projects ... these alliances reflect a commitment to long-term management of sites inscribed on the World Heritage List.

Partnerships are beneficial for each party. For the World Heritage Centre, it creates connections with external institutions in order to broaden conservation possibilities. For partners, it can allow opportunities to support efforts related to social responsibility missions or increase visibility.

The World Heritage Centre offers partners continual follow-up of their partnerships, the best conditions possible and the most suitable solution for every partnership to be an alliance to preserve the legacy of humanity.
