World Heritage Centre - Role of partners

Role of partners

Bakhtapur (Kathmandu Valley )

Each partnership is different with regard to the partner and the role a partner wishes to undertake. A partnership is first and foremost an interaction between preservation of World Heritage and various stakeholders at the national and international level. This meeting of common goals and shared willingness to act is at the core of the PACT initiative. How do our partners take part in our actions?

Conservation Activities

Development and implementation of projects
One of the first activities related to PACT is the implementation of a project by a partner for World Heritage conservation.

Participation in the preservation of sites
Partners also engage to support the completion of projects which are already underway on a site or at a series of sites.

World Heritage Promotion

Heightening public awareness
In order to reach the largest public possible, partners relay the message about World Heritage values through promotion and greater visibility.

Mobilization of Resources

Sharing of know-how, expertise and technique
Expertise acquired is one of the main resources derived from partners. Common partnership activities include providing training, equipment donation and staff.

Financial Support

Contribution for the World Heritage Fund
