Japanese Wii sales surpassed eight million units as of April 19, according to Famitsu publisher Enterbrain.
The console has been on sale in the country since December 2, 2006.
A Kotaku translation of the article also shows that Wii Sports, which wasn’t bundled with the system at launch in Japan, is the system’s top-selling title to date.
The top five games, which are all Nintendo published, are listed below with launch dates and sales totals in brackets.
