a balladeer

Marinus de Goederen, singer and songwriter of a balladeer has lived for a year in the United States. He always felt some kind of attraction for “the land of the free and home of the brave”. “America means to me the land of movies, freedom, prudery and deep rooted belief. A belief in God or at least The American Dream. Nothing happens there half-hearted. If Americans believe, they believe intense. If they dream, they dream big and if they fall, they fall deep. This country and its inhabitants forms the backdrop for the new a balladeer album Where Are You Bambi Woods?

To start with the title track: Bambi Woods is the leading player from the cult blue movie Debbie does Dallas from 1978. A few years and some sequel later the young actress disappears from the earth.

Marinus did Dallas too. “I lived a year near Dallas when I was sixteen years old. Jesus Doesn’t Love Me is partially about this period and the first single Mary Has A Secret totally. But the number America, America shows the best how I have experienced that year. I’ve really had a great time.

Where Are You Bambi Woods? Is a sequel to its previous album Panama containing the hit singles Swim With Sam and Fortune Teller. It is again a listening album with beautiful pop/rock songs with essential lyrics.

FEATURED SONGWRITER

BEAT ROYALTY

At the end of 2008 the EMI Music Publishing producer / songwriter team Beat Royalty delivered the debut album of Sabrina Starke.

The Dutch Sabrina Starke (29) was working on her musical career for a few years already, but her final breakthrough came in 2008. A performance in a tv show called “De Wereld Draait Door” gave her career a boost.
The American Blue Note label offered her a record deal and her debut album “Yellow Brick Road”is now released.

The title of the album takes its name from her favourite movie “The Wiz” from 1978.

Her music is pure and the songs are based on her own life experiences. On this album Sabrina combines soul, jazz, hip-hop and reggae into a warm accessible sound. Not every song holds a deep message, but the album does reflect the growth she has experienced in life as a woman and what her outlook on life is.

The production team Beat Royalty (Chris Kooreman and Edo Plasscheart) are based in Los Angeles. They worked together on this album with the multiple nominated engineers Brad Gilderman and Aaron Lepley of the Little Big Room Studio.

Besides a number of songs on her album her second single Foolish is co-written by Beat Royalty.
