The subscriber base of space MMO Eve Online has reached 300,000 users, CCP Games has announced, on the day that the online title celebrates its sixth birthday.

Having begun the year with around 244,000 active subscribers, the persistent world title has seen its subscriber base grow 22 percent this year. The figure does not include trial accounts, CCP said.

“That is exponential growth,” the company noted. “We couldn't think of a better birthday present than having more people playing Eve Online than ever before. It is another sweet reminder of Eve’s boundless potential.”
