A referendum on the purchase of solar panels by the Keyport School District in Keyport, New Jersey, will be on the April 21, 2009 ballot.[1]

The measure establishes a $3.9 million bond to pay for solar panels and roof replacements for Keyport High School, Keyport Central School, and the Keyport administrative office. The state would fund 45.7% of Keyport's debt service for the project. Additionally, the district will sell energy credits back to the state for excess energy the buildings generate.

Two board meetings on April 8 and April 15 will discuss the long-term money saving benefits of the proposal with residents.
