The Manawa School District Referendum was a school bond brought to the April 7, 2009 ballot by the school board in the Manawa School District in Wisconsin. The measure sought to exceed state-set revenue limits by $600,000 per year for 5 years, for a total of $3,000,000. The additional funds would have been used to maintain the current levels of operation. The measure was defeated.

Taxes on a $100,000 property would go up by $88.74 in 2009/2010, $87.24 in 2010/2011, $90.09 in 2011/2012, $83.76 in 2012/2013, $81.51 in 2013/2014 and $45.51 in 2014/2015. The annual property tax total would then be:

10-11 = $1,047
11-12 = $1,078
12-13 = $1,002

Wording of referendum
BE IT RESOLVED by the School Board of the School District of Manawa, Waupaca County, Wisconsin, that the final school district budget shall include an amount not to exceed $600,000 in excess of the revenue limits imposed by Section 121.91 of the Wisconsin Statutes each year for a period of five years on a non-recurring basis, beginning with the 2009-2010 school year and ending with the 2013-2014 school year, for the purpose to maintain the operation of the School District of Manawa that is necessary due to decreased funding.
