My unofficial vote goes to Barth’s Church Dogmatics.

      Amen, Kyle.
Karl Barth’s “CHURCH DOGMATICS” is the ultimate collection of theological gemstones. I think the Evangelical Church has been naively/ignorantly scared away from Barthian thought for far too long. It is time for serious thinkers to venture into this Magnum Opus of one of Christianity’s all-time great theologians. It would be great for Logos to slice the price of Barth’s library so that the Church can explore a truly Christ-centered theology which exalts the place of God’s Word as revealed in Flesh & in Scripture. The Church & each individual Member of His Body will come to greater maturity as we recognize our position in the One Who is the Elect in God, Jesus Christ; and Barth’s CHURCH DOGMATICS expands, details & clarifies God’s work in Christ in a grander, more majestic manner than any theologian throughout Church history.
plus, it would be nice to replace my hardcover set with an electronic version which is accessible at the touch of a button & can be integrated with the rest of my Libronix Library.

Handmaid to Theology: Prolegomena is really wonderful and but I fear many do not know about this very beneficial volume.

Corduan defines prolegomena, as follows: “it examines the presuppositions underlying (systematic) theology. It … asks the question, ‘What are the philosophical conditions which make theology possible?’ For instance, can we say that Christ is coming again and that Christ is NOT coming again in the same way? Not without breaking a basic philosohhical law of non-contradition.

This is very basic example. We are told to “beware of philosophies”, but we must be AWARE of them first, before we can see and understand them for what they are. Peter Jones (Westminster Seminary) brings us clarity in many of the same areas (exposing Paganism for what it is)… but, and Dr. Jones makes clear, “Unless you know it, you don’t see it. Be aware of it, and you can spot it easily.” That is the point of this book.

Corduan holds the Ph.D. from Rice University, is associate professor of philosophy and religion at Taylor University. He is one of the essayists in Biblical Errancy (he wrote the piece on Hegel), and he has published in the Harvard Theological Review and the Journal of the Evangelical Theological Society.

Heads up on those voting on the Evangelical Dictionary of Biblical Theology. This book is a part of the Baker Digital Reference Library-Level 3. Several retailers such as Barns and Nobel, Rejoice Christian Software and DiscountBible.com are offering this collection of $19.95. In other words, even at the 75% discount level it would be a much better idea to purchase this book in the collection. Here are the other books in the collection:

Here is how to use old Logos 2.0 collections in Libronix.

    1. Install the Logos 2.0 program. Don’t bother even starting up the program once it is installed.

    2. Leave the CD in the drive and start up Libronix. As Libronix starts up it will automatically read the license file of the old Logos 2.0 program and start “discovering resources” on the CD. When it finishes “discovering resources” a box should pop up inviting you to move resources from your CD to your hard drive. Accept the offer and move your new books to your hard drive.

    3. Backup your license.

    4. Remove the CD and exit Libronix. Then go to this link http://www.logos.com/media/update/ResourceAutoUpdate.lbxupd to update all your new books.

    5. Restart Libronix and use Tools | Library Management | Remove Duplicate Resources to remove all the old duplicate LSS 2.0 books from your hard drive.

    6. You are now free to remove the old LSS 2.0 program from your hard drive. If your reinstall Libronix to a new computer you can restore the license from the backup. (You will still need the old CD to reinstall the books however, so don’t throw it away.)

Maybe I am overlooking some, but it would be nice to balance this fine list with some other non-Reformed tradition theologians.

Corduan (Prolegomena) is not reformed. I suppose that was his kiss of death. Must admit, reformed doctrine has made a nice comeback recently.

Love those Reformed theologians, just don’t think “all truth” rests there. :)

      God Bless,

Almost mind-boggling the wild swings of “popularity” of the various picks. (Ev DBT is one). Some of my top picks are staying at the bottom, too. Hey, why can’t more think like me, lol?!
